Objectives

Bankside Gallery, the gallery of the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, pursues a policy of artistic excellence, and aims, by education and example, to achieve a wider recognition of the pleasure and enjoyment to be derived from watercolours and original prints.

The Gallery’s main function is to showcase the works of the members of the two Societies. In order to be able to do this the Gallery rents out its space and undertakes other revenue generating activities such as the bookshop.

Activities

Regular exhibitions of watercolours and original print by artists of the Royal Watervolour Society and the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers whose members are elected by their peers in a tradition dating back over 200 years.

Annual open submission international watercolour and print competitions

Varied and informative education programme encompassing practical workshops, talks, and meet the artist sessions.
