Objectives

Baguley Athletic have a great history and tradition of supporting young people with the addition of a junior set up established in 2019 we have seen the rise of a collective group of children who are now competing in the Salford & district junior league division 1. This group of boys led by volunteer manager Barry Lingard has formed a great collective bond and friendship that should stand the test of time. These friendships are great for children in the aid of forming social skills which is pivotal to lifelong success. Furthermore, after various government lockdowns it is amazing to see that these young children now can catch up and interact with each other whilst gaining the health benefits tied with sports. However, the children need equipment and pitches to facilitate their learning and growth as sporting individuals and the benefits this has on the local community with skills such as discipline being of paramount importance to Baguley Athletic.

Activities

Baguley Athletic have a great history and tradition of supporting young people through its grassroots football. By considering the club’s main objectives, one can see how Baguley Athletic work towards the overall benefit of the community as a whole. The establishment of our junior set up in 2019 has marked a turning point in our club’s contribution to our local community. Through the offering of recreational and competitive football, our junior members enjoy all the benefits that grassroots football has to offer. First of all, there are tremendous advantages to mental and physical health, along with the opportunity to meet new people, share talents, learn new skills and in turn strengthen the community. Whether at football training, on match days or at special events, the football club is a place where its players, their friends and their family come together.By encouraging people to get involved in grassroots football, it inevitably promotes a healthier lifestyle through exercise and spending time outdoors. Not only will it maintain the health of the football players, but it will also maintain the health of those who support grassroots football. For example, we recruit volunteers to coach the football teams and work behind the scenes at the club. These individuals are also encouraged to lead active lifestyles while at the same time developing the necessary Employability skills to work and succeed in this industry. In addition to technical football skills grassroots soccer can teach players of all ages, the importance of friendship, camaraderie and teamwork cannot be undermined. Not only are the younger players developing their skills, but the adults who run grassroots football are also developing their coaching, fundraising and research skills while ensuring that grassroots football is kept alive.Undoubtedly, having grassroots football in the community will encourage new players to improve their football skills and to enjoy themselves. his will help to develop the local talent and confidence of players, regardless of where each individual originates from. As a result, grassroots football helps promote diversity and reduces the likelihood of discrimination, sexism, and racism. Through this, our goal is to contribute to the eradication of all forms of discrimination and ensure that every member of our club enjoys an environment in which their rights, dignity and individual worth are respected.
