Baby Umbrella is an award-winning small charity offering breastfeeding and early parenting support to families in West Kent. Our vision is for every family in West Kent to have access to skilled and compassionate support during their parenting journey. We are here to listen, support and empower parents to make the decisions that feel right for them and their babies.

Baby Umbrella runs free weekly support groups in Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells and online via Zoom. We offer 1-1 appointments with highly trained Lactation Consultants and Breastfeeding Counsellors, and social groups with trained Peer Supporters. We support an average of 44 families every week, and we are open 49 weeks a year. We offer support with breastfeeding, bottle feeding,  expressing breastmilk, introducing solids, and adjusting to parenthood. We have recently launched a dedicated Listening Service for parents who are struggling with their feelings, have experienced trauma during parenthood, or where something just doesn't feel quite right. 

The transition to parenthood is often extremely overwhelming, and statutory support is fragmented with families receiving outdated and often conflicting advice. New parenthood is a time that can be isolating, with peer groups, relationships and daily life changing dramatically and old methods of coping no longer available. We provide a service that is free and open access, such that parents can seek support as often as they need. Parents can trust the evidence based information and compassionate support from our specialist practitioners and peer supporters, while making new local friends for peer support and solidarity. Our service is very highly reviewed by our beneficiaries, with over 97% recommending our service.
