Auntie Val's Ability Centre offers the opportunities of work experience, training, workplace social integration, education and employment opportunities. We enable this through the production of artisan jams, marmalades,pickles and chutneys. During this experience our volunteers and employees learn skills in the Professional Kitchen, our stock room, packaging area and packing parcels for distribution. Our ethics is based upon ability not disability, here we try to welcome all those with both physical and mental health need, encouraging people to get involved and by doing this we can change lives for the better.
We aim to meet our objectives through the production of our award winning produce. During this process volunteers and trainees learn skills from numeracy to literacy improving upon their own existing levels. The social integration happens not just during the working hours but also in the breaks in between. When all staff mix together and have friendly conversations about their football teams, olympic medals and news. Our small team of employees are all from various disability groups and have joined us as trainees and became our workforce.
