Athenlay FC is a volunteer organisation providing recreational and leisure time sporting activities for children and young people in the interest of social well-being to improve their conditions of life. Our sport of choice is football, as it offers common grounds for engaging in a wide range of social development activities, including education, health promotion, social integration and gender equality to positively impact our diverse local community.
As a grassroots sports club we play a vital role in our local community, for not only do we help young people stay fit and healthy, we also help develop individual sporting talents and bring our diverse community together. We give young people the opportunity to meet new friends from different backgrounds, and provide parents with the opportunity to meet with other parents, who they otherwise may not have met.
Athenlay FC offers far more than just the sporting activities it is involved with, as it also offer volunteers the opportunity to share their talents and learn new skills, whether it be helping with coaching, administration, transport or sourcing sponsorship or funding.
Our 300 members represent a vast array of different nationalities which helps to break down racial barriers and our programmes include activities for parents to get fit while the kids play football.
