The Association for Young People’s Health is the UK’s leading independent voice for young people’s health.
The UK has 11.8 million young people aged 10-24 making up 19% of the population. Good health for young people is central to their wellbeing, forming the bedrock for good health in later life. It is critical that we invest in this life stage.
We bridge the worlds of policy, practice and evidence to promote better understanding of young people’s health needs, and to advocate for youth friendly health services. By sharing learning and best practice we can promote and provide better services to meet young people’s specific health needs.
Improving practice in young people’s health is one of our key aims. AYPH brings together professionals and organisations working to improve young people’s health and wellbeing. By sharing learning and best practice we can promote and provide better services to meet young people’s specific health needs.
We work with professionals including GPs, paediatricians, pharmacists, nurses, school nurses and colleagues in the voluntary and statutory sector.
AYPH is committed to increasing young people’s involvement in decisions that affect their health. We run a variety of projects that amplify the voices of young people in the health and wellbeing sector.
AYPH is committed to supporting evidence-based practice in adolescent health and healthcare. Sharing learning and best practice is central to AYPH’s mission. Use of evidence underpins all the work we do.
We are involved in a range of research activities from primary research on young people’s health needs, through evaluations of service developments, to production of compendiums of data and digests for front line practitioners. We also provide support for research being undertaken by other organisations, and sit on a number of project advisory boards.
AYPH works strategically, inputting to policy to improve young people’s health and wellbeing.
