Objectives

Through cheerleading, we make a transformational difference to the lives of the young people of Newham in East London. Cheerleading keeps them fit, enhances their citizenship skills and contributes to community integration.

In 2017, 135 athletes took part in our programmes and we delivered 1,269 coaching hours to our competition cheerleading teams as well as coaching to 360 local school children through our schools outreach programme.

Activities

AEC was founded over 20 years ago to help combat the lack of opportunities for young people in the London Borough of Newham, one of London’s most economically-challenged boroughs.

What do we do?
We use cheerleading as a means of giving Newham's young people (aged 6 to 21 years) coaching, mentoring and practical life skills which can help them to reach their full potential in every aspect of their lives and, in turn, to make a positive contribution to their communities.

AEC’s mission is to inspire young people to reach their full potential, by giving them:
• the highest possible quality of training and coaching
• an opportunity to take part in structured team work
• developing their self-discipline and leadership skills
• support for academic achievement through our academic mentoring scheme.

AEC makes a difference in the lives of our young people so that they can go on to inspire future generations in their communities.
