Arts Alive and Flicks in the Sticks works with over 140 local communities in rural areas to bring great cultural events to village halls, chosen by and hosted by the local community. These events not only give access to a wide variety of cultures, so important in a mono cultural area, but the events are great for social cohesion - at a time when shops, pubs, schools are closing and local transport is under threat.
We work with 400 volunteers and organise over 1000 events a year - dance, theatre, children’s and family events. We help the community choose what they want, help them with publicity and marketing, run training workshops, sell tickets etc. we run events not only in village halls, but we also have a large branded tent that we can take to country shows, agricultural shows etc and really get out into the community to people that may not normally attend out events.
