Objectives

Artlift is a charitable incorporated Organisation specialist in Arts on Prescription, with over a decade’s track record of improving health outcomes of patients.

Artlift offers a range of art courses and projects for health benefits, currently for people living with mental health and/or chronic pain challenges, and for adults living with or beyond cancer. Health, voluntary sector and social prescribing professionals can refer people to Artlift and, on some programmes, people can also self-refer.

Key partners include NHS Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, Macmillan Cancer Support and the University of Gloucestershire, who work with us to analyse the impact of our services.

Artlift is a member of Gloucestershire Creative Health Consortium, a national Arts & Mental Health micro network, and the Association of Mental Health Providers.

Activities

Current Programmes

Artlift is currently delivering Create Well (mental health), Living Well with Chronic Pain and Flourish (cancer) programmes.

We’re also piloting Workplace Wellbeing packages for the corporate, health and statutory sectors and offer Artist Residencies and consultancy to support development of Creative Health initiatives in other geographic areas / networks.

Our courses draw on a variety of artforms and genres (e.g. drawing, painting, photography, carnival arts, creative writing). They run over 10-week terms and support with ‘Move On’ is built into the offer (to help participants maintain arts practice; thereby wellbeing). From September 2021 (subject to Govt guidelines) the plan is to offer a combination of online and community-based face-to-face courses and projects.
