Objectives

  1. Outreach support, practical and emotional, to families in difficulty. Criteria for referral are broad and cover the difficulties arising from poverty and social isolation
  2. An after school club “The Project” on Wednesdays
  3. “Two by Two”, a group for small children/babies and their adults, on Mondays .
  4. A child sitting service for families who feel unable to use an untrained sitter due to the needs of the child/ren
  5. A counselling/play therapy service for children, adults, families and couples. We also offer counselling to those with additional needs, some of whom may be non-verbal
  6. Play schemes and holiday schemes
  7. Support, both emotional and practical, for families with a child/children with additional needs; this includes a weekly drop-in support group which runs all the year round
  8. TASK (Talk About Special Kids) providing respite care/ fun and learning and occasional residential weekends for children and young people with learning and physical disabilities and medical needs
  9. A sessional pre school nursery which includes a high level of children with mild to severe learning disabilities and/or medical needs
  10. A domestic violence support project

 

Our nursery welcomes all children aged 2-5 years. We are registered with Ofsted and comply with their legislation and requirements. Our current Ofsted rating is “Good”.

All our staff are appropriately qualified and update their training regularly. First Aid, Safeguarding Children and Equal Opportunities training is updated at least annually for all staff. All staff are qualified to Level 3 in childcare and all update their training in all appropriate areas as an ongoing process. Our Outreach worker has recently completed training in delivering the Freedom Programme, which will enable us to deliver group sessions in recovery and rehabilitation for survivors of domestic abuse. The Manager has a Level 4 qualification and a Diploma in Professional Studies.

Activities

We run sessions for children and young people with additional needs, we have a pre-school Nursery which is fully inclusive, we provide home-based support for survivors of violence and other vulnerable families and individuals.
