The Apuldram Centre is very much a local registered charity, established in 1989 as a community and educational resource specialising in providing training for adults with learning disabilities through its core activities of horticulture and crafts.
Our connection with providing support to Chichester residents is longstanding: we provide over 2,000 hours of support activity per week to enable adults with learning disabilities to maximise their independence.
As part of our meaningful occupation and income-generating activities, we operate a contract gardening team - trainees, led by our instructor - in the local neighbourhood; this provides 28 elderly residents in Chichester/surrounding area with regular garden maintenance.
The Apuldram Centre employs 53 Staff (32 Full-time equivalent) and our services are enhanced by a dedicated and enthusiastic team of 55 local volunteers. We reach and support 100 local adults with learning disabilities and their families. We enable 27 tenants to live independently in their own homes, 35 people attend the Day Centre each day to participate in occupational activities (a total of 65 unique individuals attend the Day Centre throughout the week). In central Chichester we offer an outreach drop-in service on three days per week from a community location where users participate in a wide range of leisure and recreational activities.
