Objectives

Amersham Band exists to improve, develop and advance the public education in, and appreciation of, the art and science of brass band music in all its forms. The band offers a full range of instruments and repertoire. In addition the provision of bands and groups for entry level, intermediate and advanced players make it accessible to all standards of brass player and for all ages. The band benefits individuals and the local community, helping to increase social cohesion by using music to bring people together. Involvement in music making within a group can help to improve self esteem and develops skills such as discipline, teamwork, cooperation, self confidence and social skills. Music can be seen as a source of support when people, young or old, are feeling lonely.

Activities

Amersham Band runs bands for various levels of playing ability. There is a Brass Roots for beginners to encourage people to take up a musical instrument which is led by professional musicians. The band runs regular rehearsals, workshops, talks and demonstrations. It also organises concerts and plays at a wide variety of events including fetes, parades, civic occasions and private functions.
