AMERA International advocates for the development of legal aid for refugees globally. We do this by supporting refugees in their search for solutions by assisting and encouraging organisations globally to offer pro bono legal advice. We also provide infrastructural support to refugees, and legal aid providers, lawyers and NGOs working with refugees, as follows:
- We manage and run a well-respected website, Rights in Exile. This provides a one-stop shop of FREE resources for legal aid providers and refugees, globally. (see www.refugeelegalaidinformation.org)
- We promote an online case management software system called Refugee Information Processing System (RIPS). This is used by NGOs and lawyers globally and provides a safe, secure cloud-based case management system for organisations handling refugee cases. AMERA’s vision is for RIPS to be the worldwide ‘go to’ standardised system for refugee case management.
- We also believe in advancing education among lawyers and paralegals, in matters relating to forced migration and law affecting refugees globally.
