Objectives

ADSS have served Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and surrounding villages for 25 years and we provide a mixture of free and paid-for services for people affected by dementia in its many forms.  We aim to support not only the person diagnosed but also family and carers.

We provide a number of Memory Cafes across the area which are free to attend and always have a trained member of staff in attendance and an abundance of leaflets and advice.  Free tea and cake are always an added incentive.

We provide Peer and Carer Support Groups, Singing for the Brain, Carer Learning Groups, Social Clubs where clients choose their own activities supported by ADSS staff.

We also have paid for services such as Garden Lodge Day Care which runs for 6 days a week.  We also have registered CQC services called Support at Home.

Our new project is a dementia hub called "Safeharbour" in Coldharbour Road Northfleet where we are aiming to break down barriers between the cared for, the carer and service providers, charities and health professionals aiming for people to have access to information, advice and guidance in one place.  At the heart of the building there will be a community cafe for the whole community to use.

We are aiming to have a wide variety of activities and experiences for people to take part in.

With a growing population in North Kent and the development of Ebbsfleet Garden City the dementia prevalence in the area is only going to grow and ADSS will be in a position to support this enlargement.  Nationally there are 850,000 people with a dementia diagnosis and this is set to grow to 1million by 2020.

We provide a range of free and paid-for services which support both the diagnosed and the carer as well as providing advice and guidance for families.
