Lebanon’s current multi-fold crisis has resulted in unprecedented poverty levels among its population. Record levels of schoolchildren are being withdrawn from schools as families can no longer afford the cost of tuition. UNICEF, has acknowledged that the crisis is depriving adolescents and youth of the stability that is so important at their age. It is robbing them of their education, dreams, and future. They urgently need support that addresses not only education and livelihood challenges but also their emotional and mental well-being
In response to this catastrophe, Alphabetical Order’s volunteers work to provide individuals in Lebanon, especially young people, from lower-income backgrounds with the education and the means to better their lives and improve the prospects of their families and communities. Our charity grants tuition subsidies to school children, administers school development aid and manages education and poverty relief projects
Tuition aid programme in Lebanon
Alphabetical Order's purpose is to provide children in Lebanon, from lower-income backgrounds with the education and the means to better their lives and improve the prospects of their families and communities. The charity grants tuition subsidies for school children, administers school development aid and manages education and poverty relief projects.
Our tuition aid is means-tested and is paid by the charity to schools on behalf of students and families facing financial hardship.
Alphabetical Order’s focus is on supporting children from the age of 8 to 18 years when these students have sat their final school leaving examinations.
Further to an interview process with the children and their families, an applicant shortlist is then considered for subsidised tuition.
Our education committee team will then do further welfare checks with the schools involved and all fees for final grantees are settled directly with the schools.
Student Mentoring Programme
The Alphabetical Order mentoring programme is a volunteer-led initiative that helps students and scholars in Lebanon develop their skills and achieve their full potential
Alphabetical Order offers two types of mentoring: Educational and professional.
The educational mentoring initiative involves students and scholars in their last two years of high school or at university, offering peer-to-peer support, mentoring, and advising on future university prospects.
The professional mentoring initiative offers career advice, and dedicates events for career guidance and networking events to empower and help students and scholars build and grow their global Lebanese network.
Alumni regeneration programme
People may not realise it, but education is so much more than just the qualifications you receive at the end. It’s also about the lessons you learn, the people you meet, and the relationships you build. So why would you expect to leave all of that behind after graduation?
Alumni networks provide long-term value to an educational institution by allowing alumni to stay in contact and continue to learn from each other long after they have left school.
Support networks are hard to come by out in the world and having a ready-made one full of people with shared experiences just waiting to connect, is a luxury that few can afford to turn down.
Alphabetical Order helps participating schools, create and develop their own alumni programmes to connect former students around the world.
The objective of such a programme is to strengthen ties between schools and their former students, to foster meaningful relationships, and create reliable networks to benefit former students and to support the schools in times of need.
Student-led activity & service programme
Alphabetical Order works with schools in Luxembourg as we really believe this is one of the most important ways to make our charity known and to gain wider adherence to our objectives, as schools are best placed to understand the values we defend.
Our team of expert volunteers intervene in classes and schools to present the association and its objectives. They raise relevant questions to help students reflect and debate on themes dealing with social inequalities, justice, and the right to education. Our team members guide students to explore linkages between education and tolerance, freedom of thought, and consider what a world would be without schools.
The aim is to make students think about:
Our teams of student volunteers work as an integral part of our charity. They promote our cause and raise funds for our programmes. Alphabetical Order seeks to empower these young people, instilling in them solid life goals and helping them leverage their motivation and creativity for a great cause. Ultimately, our young volunteers develop an awareness of the difficulties faced by many in the world and become conscious of their good fortune.
