Objectives

The Aldridge Foundation is a UK based charity that aims to inspire and equip young people from disadvantaged backgrounds with the skills they need to take control of their futures, improve their attainment in education, enjoy better employment prospects and lead productive lives. We believe that where you come from should not dictate where you end up.

Activities

The Foundation supports c7,000 young people each year living in places with some of the highest rates of deprivation and child poverty in the UK. These children don’t have access to the same opportunities as their wealthier peers which puts them at a significant disadvantage when it comes to their future life chances.

Our core programmes help develop key life and employability skills, supporting their next steps into further education and work. We aim to offer a range of enriching experiences that builds their skills and cultural and social capital through enterprise and entrepreneurship challenges, creative arts, sport and expeditionary learning. We also deliver employability coaching and work experience that is genuinely useful whatever path they choose. For those facing further barriers to further education and employment we provide bursaries that not only help them financially but also provide them with mentoring and other tailored support. We want to help them to realise their potential, raise their aspirations and equip them with the skills that will give them a more equal chance at life.
