Alchemy Arts Ltd is a BME media and arts organisation that specialises in using drama and other Art forms to create space for seldom heard voices. Alchemy uses innovation and imagination as an instrument for social change and participation to support people with special educational needs, mental health, dementia and addiction.
We work creatively to develop positive communication skills and explore issues around self-respect. Our sessions are creative, interactive and focus on liberation, empowerment and anti oppressive practice to actively promote self-awareness, self-confidence and participation. Alchemy Arts also specialises in working with young people, exploring identity, culture and the politics of differences within communities and promoting community cohesion.
In addition to Drama, Alchemy Arts also offers, Media and Music sessions to engage participants enabling them to make positive transformational change.
Alchemy Arts recognises that not all groups are the same. We work flexibly and ensure that sessions are tailored to meet the needs of the groups involved.

Creative Wellbeing - Healthy Minds, Healthy Bodies
We strongly believe that people are at their best when they can embrace the challenges of modern life in a innovative and creative way. Our creative wellbeing sessions offer support and awareness on subject matters that can sometimes be hard to understand, words like dementia, depression, social anxiety/ isolation or any other mental health condition can sometimes be alien to family, friends and loved ones so exploring the subject matter in a safe, non judgmental creative environment can really make a difference
Be Who You Want To Be
Are you aged between 11-24, and looking, for an opportunity to be part of the world of media? Then Alchemy Arts is providing you a fantastic opportunity.
Be Who You Want To Be, is a Arts Award Accredited course allowing you to express yourself in a safe and creative environment, helping you identify a pathway to a career of your choosing. The course provides you with the skills and confidence to get back into education, training, or employment, with support from your Alchemy tutor every step of the way. Courses run throughout the year and each course will be themed of the choosing of the young people. Building skills that enable dialogue and build understanding of what really effects young people in our community today
During the course you will be working towards; gaining a Level 1 or 2 Bronze and Silver Arts Award. You will be developing your very own show reel and will have an amazing opportunity to write, film and direct your own media product.
Arts Award is a range of unique qualifications that support anyone up to 25 grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form - from fashion to film making, pottery to poetry.
Through Arts Award young people gain a nationally recognised qualification enabling them to progress into further education and employment.
This course can run, for 8 to 12 weeks with evening lessons once a week that are, for 3 hours per session. Successful participants will be given the opportunity to stay on at Alchemy Arts and join our volunteer’s team.

Forgotten Soldiers Project

The project will raise awareness of the Muslim contribution to Britain's past war efforts. Through delivering various interactive workshops an exhibition and project documentary we will explore how many countries regardless of colour, nationality and religious indifferences came together to serve one nation to overcome the enemy.
Her Say
The Her Say project aims to encourage local women from the community to have a voice and realise their true potential, especially those experiencing social exclusion and minority ethnic women facing barriers accessing relevant services to address needs. We offer a varied programme of regular activities which range from Health and Well Being, Creative Writing, Digital Engagement, Photography Workshops, IT sessions to a Women’s Forum discussion group. We also hold sessions that focus on specific issues such as Domestic Abuse/Violence and Mental Health. One to one support is also available via our trained counsellor.
Our overarching aim is empowering women and girls to take control of their lives. We work with them and support them in consolidating their roles and capabilities within the local community. This is achieved through enhancing their social, political, economic and cultural participation.
Our project gives local women/girls an opportunity to come together in a safe environment to meet new people and create lasting friendships.
My Memory Cloud – Living Well With Dementia
My Memory Cloud is a Dementia project working with Trafford and Manchester’s BME community to raise awareness of dementia and assist those currently living with the condition. During our workshops we create a virtual timeline for individuals living with dementia.
Our project offers a 'dementia friendly' place for people with dementia, their partners, families and friends to meet up for a chat and a coffee. It also provides a space where individuals can get helpful information or advice about any issues relating to dementia from Dementia champions, advisors and other staff. It opens dialogue with the community on the issue of Dementia and explores obstacles preventing minority communities accessing services. One of the main problems that our project deals with is breaking the taboo surrounding Dementia.
We also raise awareness on how community stigma can isolate and exacerbate Dementia. We strongly feel by exploring attitudes towards Health & Wellbeing in BME communities with particular focus on Dementia we can go a long way in challenging this taboo.
