Mission and aims

Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering exists to improve and maintain the quality of life for older people living in the London boroughs of Redbridge, Barking and Dagenham & Havering. We seek to achieve this aim by:

  • Ensuring that older people have dignity, respect, choice and that their voices are heard
  • Ensuring that services are provided in a sensitive and approachable manner
  • Being a focus of advice and help for older people

All of our staff receive on-going training and supervision and, depending on their role, are checked with the Disclosure and Barring service. We provide a number of services which are available to older people in the borough.

In addition to these services we also work closely with Redbridge Council, Havering Council, Redbridge Clinical Commissioning Group, Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospital Trusts and other statutory and voluntary organisations.

We meet with these bodies to try and represent the voices of older people and ensure that these voices are heard. We try to ensure that local services are provided in a manner that is accessible and acceptable to older people.

Our broad range of services can:

  • Offer information, aiming to be a reliable, easy-to-understand source of advice for all older people, their friends, family and carers.
  • Provide telephone befriending services
  • Provide home support services
  • Provide telephone support for our more vulnerable clients with dementia or long term health conditions and loneliness via our Care Navigation service
  • Our Di's Diamonds service is supporting it's members with on line activities, including virtual coffee mornings, quizzes, watch parties and much more. Anyone who joins the Di's Diamonds group can have access to their unique Facebook page through which activities are advertised.
  • Provide on line exercise opportunities for some members of our Falls Prevention exercise groups
  • Provide a list of Trusted Traders through the Age UK London Boroughs Business Directory

Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering  takes the health and well-being of our clients, staff and volunteers very seriously and we always work hard to ensure that everyone remains safe and well. We are carefully following NHS and Government guidelines on how best to respond to the outbreak.
