Objectives

We are a local Age UK, who help those aged over 50 and living within the Scarborough, Whitby and Ryedale area.  We have a number of ways of helping individuals, including benefits checks, resource centres, exercise classes, befriending services and lunch and coffee clubs.

We help to ensure that all those aged over 50 are receiving their full financial entitlement, and so are not financially struggling.  We also help to overcome social isolation, through our clubs, and our home befriending service.

Activities

  • We have 4 charity shops and resource centres, these are based in Falsgrave, Scarborough, Eastfield and Filey.
  • We have a number of link workers who carry out Information and Guidance and benefits checks in people's homes.
  • A befriending service which offers both telephone and visiting services.
  • Our central office based on Aberdeen Walk in Scarborough which hosts a range of activities including Knit and Knatter and Link Worker drop-in sessions.
  • Extend - which is a chair based exercise class and is run from Scarborough and Filey.
