Age UK Mid Devon supports older people (50 plus years) in the district to improve their quality of life. We provide information and advice on housing, health and social care, the local community and welfare benefits. we also provide a range of services for older people including day centre services, foot care, walking football, volunteer visiting. A men in sheds service is being developed.
By providing these services we tackle loneliness and isolation, build community networks, maximise income, support older people through changing circumstances and improve their health and wellbeing.
We work with our beneficiaries to identify gaps in service provision and provide services that meet their needs. We have introduced home visits for Information and advice as many older people live in rural isolated areas with very little public transport. Our volunteer visiting service matches a volunteer with a beneficiary and is an enabling service to encourage re-engagement in the local community/activities previously enjoyed. Our day service provides social networks and activities including a reminder finder’s service to improve memory.
