Age UK Croydon is a vibrant and successful voluntary sector charity whose aim is to promote the health, wellbeing and independence of older people who live in Croydon. With a dynamic staff team of sixty and an annual turnover of circa £900,000. We run services from three core sites, but promote activities from over thirty five venues throughout Croydon. .
Advocacy - older people are assisted by receiving emotional and/or practical help, support, listening, encouraging and empowering. Benefits Project - trained staff and volunteers provide benefit checks and assistance to complete complicated benefit application forms. Computer training - a one to one weekly computer course is available; courses can be tailored to meet individual needs. Handy Person Services for a small charge jobs around the house are carried out eg changing light bulbs, supplying and fitting grab rails, building flat pack furniture, putting up curtain tracks, supply and fitting keysafes; carrying out free Home Fire Safety Checks. Help@Home Services - registered Home Helps provide domestic support including cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping; charges apply. Information and advice provides information and advice on a wide range of issues affecting older people including community care, housing, utility bills and family matters. Smart Health - a range of services and projects to promote opportunities for older people to maximise their independence and make informed, healthy lifestyle choices. The service aims to promote physical and mental well being and reduce social isolation. In partnership with Age UK London we sell and provide products and services i.e home and contents, motor, motor breakdown and holiday insurance plus Aid-Call, funeral plans and charity flowers..
