Objectives

AOS (Against All Odds Still Standing) UK is committed to ending violence and abuse against women and children. We seek to safeguard and protect the civil liberties of women and girls both within the UK and abroad.

We aim to raise awareness of the plight of women and children wherever abuses and inequalities are. AOS support, relieve needs and empower victims and survivors in partnership with other organisations to rebuild lives and restore hope.

Our Values are to serve, provide hope and build trust.

Activities

It is a fact that there is one in every four women in the UK where women have experience domestic violence or abuse (DVA) at some time in their life. A recent figure showed that two women a week die in the UK as a direct result of DVA. It is also reported by the United Nations (UN) that up to 70% of women in the world have experienced physical and/or sexual violence at some point in their lifetime. At AOS we exist to raise awareness of this crime and along with other organisations, are committed to take action to address this where ever we can make a difference.

We provide early interventions and preventative measures, by subsidised or free therapeutic mental health rehabilitation in one to one and group sessions, who are potentially vulnerable to or who are victims / survivors of DVA. Whether they are vulnerable refugees, migrants from aboard or individuals from within local communities who are in genuine need of the service and have met our criteria. We advocate for equality and diversity.  This is achieved by bringing about more awareness of entitlement and rights within communities.

Against All Odds’ Project exist to support safeguarding and protection of women and girls and in particular (BME) women and children. Our experiences recorded that many women (most especially Africans) suffer in silence in other to retain their home or protect honour for their family.

The befriending service gives tailored and additional therapeutic rehab support to survivors of domestic violence and abuses among the community; to help restore women and girl’s physical and mental health to live a better and productive life.

AOS members have personal experience and cultural background knowledge. We therefore provide structured programs that will actively support and equip new groups and projects.

AOS also seeks to provide assistance to victims and survivors of gender base violence and abuse to primarily women, girls and boys where there are needs. This is achieve by providing necessary gift items of clothing, toiletries and medical supplies. As well as providing information and sign posting to our partners’ organisations and other stakeholders in our sector.  To improve the life chances of victims as well as where there maybe lack of opportunities for women and girls overseas. The overall aim of this organisation is to empower those who would otherwise be at a disadvantage due to their very unfortunate life experiences. For example; victims of discrimination who lack or are denied fair opportunities or physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuses which often lead to shame and withdrawal from society. Our assistance can help to remove the disadvantages experienced. Our fundraising anniversary event, Dare to Dream! Dare to Fly!, helps to bring about public awareness as well as to donors.
