After Adoption provides lifelong support to anyone affected by adoption, delivering high quality services to the people who need them.
Founded in 1990, the charity’s 28 years’ experience has ensured it has become the leading provider of adoption support in the UK, helping 8,000 people each year.
After Adoption supports people throughout the adoption journey. Services include an adoption agency, which places those children who wait the longest, lifetime support for adoptive parents, specialist support for adopted children, young people and adults, including unique services for birth parents. Its innovative work and ability to deliver services to scale has helped to transform adoption across the UK.
The charity pioneered independent services to birth parents, helping to shape national policy and ensuring their needs were represented in the adoption system. It has worked with over 70,000 birth parents. It is also recognised for its flagship SafeBase programme, a therapeutic parenting programme where we work with over 70 local authorities across the UK.
