We are a start-up non-profit that aims to provide mainstream journalists with animal-sensitive and balanced news of the British meat industry.
Current media coverage is fraught with propaganda from both sides of the meat debate. Without specialist knowledge it's impossible for a reporter to discern the truth.
With a team of researchers who have spent months analysing the industry, we help journalists by producing complete and accurate articles for free republication. To assist reporters writing their own stories, we also provide fact sheets, raw data, historical summaries, photographs, and a quotation service.
The meat industry raises profound ethical and environmental questions. Each of us grapples with these everytime we eat. But unless the media provides us with accurate information, we grapple in the dark. The AF News Agency aims to change this.
Our organisation carries out two main activities:
1. News Production - we have a team of reporters who produce in-depth articles about emerging stories, as well as pieces which break new ground. We waive the copyright to all of our news output, providing journalists with quality print-ready news;
2. In-house research - this is where our stories and information originates. We have a team of researchers investigating various aspects of the meat industry, from consumers, to suppliers, to animal welfare, etc. Our team includes specialist data researchers who help to scrutinise and visualise our quantitative research. We verify our facts, and where possible, we substantiate our findings with a second neutral source. This allows us, and the reporters who use our service, confidence in the integrity of the stories and information we are producing.
