Advocate is a national charity which matches volunteer barristers eager to undertake pro bono work with people who need legal assistance but cannot obtain legal aid and cannot afford to pay. We work in all areas of law, across all courts and tribunals in England and Wales.
Over 4,000 barristers including a third of all QC’s have committed to take on pro bono cases. As the Bar’s national charity we make it possible for barristers to balance a dedicated practice with making a significant contribution to the community. We ensure that in each case, the barrister assisting is of the same expertise and experience as would be expected in a paying case.
The level of demand for help from barristers continues to grow and we are looking for three new trustees to use their skills, experience and knowledge to help Advocate deliver the best possible service to the increasing number of people in need of the pro bono services of the Bar.
