Action4Diabetes (A4D) is a young charity based in the UK that saves the lives of disadvantaged young people with Type 1 Diabetes in South East Asia. Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune illness that anyone can get. It stops the body producing insulin, an essential hormone that enables the body to process glucose. Without treatment, sufferers get weaker and die. Children who get Type 1 Diabetes in remote and disadvantaged communities in developing countries are at particular risk. We purchase insulin and diabetes treatment materials and distribute them and know-how to children and families in Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam.
