Objectives

Action around Bethlehem Children with Disability (ABCD) is a humanitarian charity over 30 years old dedicated to improving the quality of life for those children in Palestine with physical, mental and psychological disabilities, regardless of faith, race or gender.

Activities

ABCD works with local partners across Palestine - The Bethlehem Arab Society for Rehabilitation, The Sheepfold in Beit Sahour and with three refugee camps Jalazone, Nour Shams and Al Arroub in the Hebron region. We help fund and  set up rehabilitation services delivered by Palestinian therapists trained in Palestine. We provide vital specialist medical equipment necessary for rehabilitation including wheelchairs, glasses, hearing aids, therapy treatment sessions also set up and sponsor training programmes for health workers.

Our aim is to provide guidance for social integration breaking down taboos. This enables the children we are helping to reach their optimum  potential and take their rightful place in society, and to empower their families .  Our latest project is the setting up of a music therapy programme in partnership with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
