Aconite is an innovative Scottish based social enterprise founded in 2011 by Aimara Reques, an award-winning filmmaker who has over 25 years experience in the film sector. Aimara is passionate about using films- and specifically documentaries- as a tool to raise international awareness on important human and social issues. After leading organisations such as Camcorder Guerrillas, Mediaco-op; Survivors Poetry Scotland and Glasgow Media Access Centre, in 2010 Aimara decide to set up a new venture that would go beyond the Scottish borders and would work in partnership with international partners to produce high quality documentaries on stories of global significance. We use film as a way to engage communities on topics that challenge our limited perspective and understanding of the world and the way we live. This is Aconite Productions.
The core activities of Aconite productions include:
* producing high quality documentary on important global issues in collaboration with international partners
* connecting with organisations, charities and NGOs dealing with the subjects portrayed in our films
* using social media and marketing campaigns to bring attention and awareness to the human and social topics portrayed in our film
Passion is at our heart and mobilization is our key. It takes both to successfully produce the ambitious projects we undertake.
