Objectives

Ability Consultancy (NW) Ltd was established in 2018 and became a not for profit organisation in 2019.

We provide a service breaking down the barriers and stigma of disability and inclusivity using sport or practical learning.

Ability Consultancy has a keen interest in supporting statutory and third sector organisations focusing on sport and leisure.  Sport and physical activity has been identified as a key factor in increasing health and wellbeing for people with a disability, but research has found that is underachieving.

We are committed to changing this and working with every sector in society to ensure that anyone no matter of their age or ability everyone has the chance to participate in sport.

We are also focused on changing the perception of disability across all communities, by offering generic or bespoke services to schools or youth providers, delivering sessions and providing first hand experiences to what it is like being disabled to young people and to give them the opportunity to experience disability using simulation equipment.

All of our consultants have personal first hand disability experience who will provide unique experiences and solutions.

Ability Consultancy’s aims are:

  • To put the ability into disability.
  • Build confidence in the area of disability in society from youth to managers.
  • Ensure inclusivity is part of everyday activities.
  • To provide confidence, knowledge and skills to support inclusive sport across England.
  • Provide a friendly first-hand experience approach to inclusivity training and ongoing support to all involved.
