Objectives

Scouts is a world-wide youth organisation that, in the UK, provides opportunities for children from 4 to 18 and adult volunteers with skills for life. We focus on teamwork, self-reliance, leadership and good citizenship. Its Purpose is describes as:

"Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society".

At the 42nd Leicester we have over 170 young members and we run 7 section meetings per week. We own and maintain our own purpose-built headquarters building.

The Group is a registered charity, its trustees form the Executive Committee that manages its business affairs and supports the leadership team to deliver scouting programmes in all sections.

Activities

As described by "The Scout Method"

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:

  • enjoy what they are doing and have fun
  • take part in activities indoors and outdoors
  • learn by doing
  • share in spiritual reflection
  • take responsibility and make choices
  • undertake new and challenging activities
  • make and live by their Promise.
