Objectives

24 Fit C.I.C., trading as 24 Fit Derby, helps members of communities in Derby, who would prefer group exercise classes in local community venues rather than joining a gym or participating in sport. There is now the understanding that this applies to a significant proportion of society, particularly women.

Our vision matches that of Sport England, which “is that everyone in England feels able to take part in sport or activity, regardless of age, background or ability.”

The communities will benefit by more members participating in regular exercise. From a mental health perspective, group exercise classes improve mood, reduce stress, improve self-esteem and prevent and manage depression and anxiety. Physical benefits include the prevention of ill health, improvements in strength, balance, movement, and a healthy body weight.

Activities

24 Fit provides accessible, sociable and fun local exercise options through the provision of community-based group exercise classes, run by the community for the community.

These classes can be exercise-to-music programs such as Zumba, Clubbercise, Fitsteps and Pound. They can also be non-music based, such as Pilates.
