Objectives

1st Stretford (Longford) Scout Group's are an active Scout Group based in Longford Park in Stretford - Manchester and have been established since 1908.We have three sections Beavers (6 to 8), Cubs (8 to 10) and Scouts (10 to 14).

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:

  • enjoy what they are doing and have fun
  • take part in activities indoors and outdoors
  • learn by doing
  • share in spiritual reflection
  • take responsibility and make choices
  • undertake new and challenging activities
  • make and live by their Promise.

Activities

One week you may play volleyball, the week after make a structure with spaghetti (yes spaghetti!) - we call this pioneering or you could be outdoors lighting fires. What we can guarantee is that no two weeks are the same as the young people do different things each week to earn their badges and awards. We are open to boys and girls from all faiths, backgrounds and abilities and welcome everyone.

We meet weekly and are looking for someone to join our team of Leaders so if you can't be there every week that's OK, we understand and welcome you when you can come! Perhaps you could help us plan some of our fantastic activities or day trips instead. Whatever time you have to give we can find a role for you that you will find rewarding.
