Objectives

The 1st Selsdon and Addington Scout Group actively engages and supports young people in Selsdon and the surrounding area aged 6 to 14 years old in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. In this process we provide our young people with skills for life, supported and run by amazing volunteers that deliver an inspiring programme. Our young people are divided into age appropriate Teams called Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. Without amazing volunteers we could not provide these opportunities to the young people in our locality - they would not be able to experience the adventure that those before have had the opportunity to do do for nearly 100 years.

Activities

Our fabulous volunteers that run the Teams that make up our Scout Group meet our objectives by delivering inspiring, diverse and exciting programs appropriate for the age of the young people one evening a week during term-time. The Teams also run occasional extra events at weekends and during the school holidays. Our weekly programes can range from cake baking, to team-buidling activities, to emergency aid and air rifle shooting. We try and get out as much as we can and night-hikes and sleep-overs are a staple part of our Scouting diet, as is camping where we try more outward-bound activities. Throughout the programe our young people strive to obtain badges by meeting a laid criteria designed to engage and challenge them whilst being fun and teaching them skills for life.
