Youth Mentor

What will you be doing?

As a Youth Engagement Mentor, you will play a crucial role in providing holistic support to youth participants. Your responsibilities include reviewing and integrating lessons from previous events to enhance program effectiveness and working with patient and understanding facilitators to create a positive environment.

You will engage with participants before the program to understand their personal goals and use personalised techniques to foster a sense of belonging. Clear communication about incentives, such as rewards for full attendance, and setting expectations will be key to ensuring participants understand what is required for successful completion.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic support and address diverse needs of participants.
  • Review and implement improvements from previous events.
  • Collaborate with facilitators to create a supportive environment.
  • Engage with participants before the program to understand their goals.
  • Communicate participation incentives and set clear expectations.
  • Use a relaxed and approachable manner to address concerns and keep participants motivated.
  • Collect and relay feedback to improve the program.
  • Ensure facilitators provide practical advice and support.
  • Work closely with other mentors and support teams.
  • Manage registration, maintain records, and follow up on non-attendees.

What are we looking for?

  • Previous experience in youth mentorship, particularly with marginalized or NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) groups.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to be approachable while setting clear expectations.
  • Experience in gathering and using feedback to improve programs.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in pastoral care and support services.
  • Familiarity with employability or creative industry programs aimed at young people
