Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are looking for volunteers to join our youth team to help manage and run our cadet unit alongside the current Youth Leader. This role involves leading cadet sessions on Wednesday evenings at our Harrow unit venue.

What will you be doing?

As a Youth Leader, you will be responsible for conducting some cadet sessions in-person Wednesdays during term time from 6.30-8pm. You will teach first aid skills (and will get training in this as well) and guide cadets through various practice scenarios. Additionally, you might organise and lead non-first aid sessions; a few examples we've done in the past are digital art and sign language, making each session enjoyable and beneficial for the cadets.

What are we looking for?

We're looking for someone with basic first aid knowledge (or willing to learn), who can lead and inspire our young cadets. You should be great at communicating and organising fun, engaging sessions. Experience working with young people and volunteering. Key qualities include being patient, enthusiastic, reliable, and flexible. If you're passionate about helping youth and can commit to our weekly in-person meetings, you'd be a perfect fit!

What difference will you make?

By becoming a Youth Leader, you will play a crucial role in shaping the development of young cadets aged 11-17. Your leadership will help them acquire essential first aid skills, promote their personal growth through diverse activities, and create a positive, supportive environment. Your contribution will make a significant difference in their lives, inspiring and empowering them to become confident and capable individuals.

Before you apply

Please apply through Reach in the first instance. Details on how to apply will be sent following a brief conversation to see if the role is right for you.
