Are you an enthusiastic and committed individual looking to join a creative and international team that is about to write and film content to help us preserving the cultural and artistic heritage of the Syrian diaspora?

What will you be doing?

  • You will engage remotely with young people who are starting to write stories based on their experience of displacement to encourage them in the writing of their narratives. They are based across borders in Turkey, Greece, Italy, Syria, etc.
  • You will mentor some of the young writers to develop their voice and produce their stories that we will publish on our bilingual website
  • You will write short interviews to the artists and other creative professionals living across the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
  • You will help in the drafting of scripts and questionnaires that will be used by our media team in the production of digital content that will be published on our YouTube channel and other social media.
  • Your will review events such as webinars and forums about topics connected with cultural heritage, films, books and music that will be publish on our News/Events section.

What are we looking for?

  • Needs to be a self-starter with strong drive for engaging with young people and people from other cultural backgrounds.
  • Should have strong writing skills and be able to tell great, compelling stories, as well as broader topics.
  • Should have a strong writing voice and a developed perspective on arts and culture
  • Must be willing to use that critical perspective to offer analysis and critic of arts and culture
  • Must have a strong sense of curiosity about the world around them and a deep desire to explore it, naturally on the lookout for stories every time they go out.
  • Experience writing about the arts and culture is required.
  • Develop deep sources within the arts / music community of Syrian diaspora.

What difference will you make?

You will join our editorial department made out of an international team of young translators, picture editors, and proof-readers. We work on the research, production and dissemination of content related to the cultural and artistic heritage of Syrians living in the diaspora.  Our team requires of an enthusiastic writer and content editor to contribute to the expanding of our program and activities.
