The WMIP treasurer is responsible for co-ordinating three sets of accounts managed by two training committees and the central administration of the charity. You would report directly to the board of trustees and may be co-opted as a lay trustee.

What will you be doing?

WMIP is a small incorporated charity (i.e. both a limited company and a charity).  We are primarily involved in the promotion and advancement of the study of all matters relating to psychotherapy for the benefit of the public.  WMIP activities are principally in three areas:

  • Training - leading to registration
  • Thinking – CPD and public dissemination
  • Therapy –maintaining a register of accredited professional psychotherapists working in the Midlands and beyond

WMIP does not have an office or any employees.  The day-to-day running of the charity is in the hand s of two virtual administrators who report directly to the board and committees appointed by the board.  The trainings are managed by volunteer committees who are professional members of the Institute.  Public and closed events (conferences, lectures, cpd meetings, etc.) are organized by groups of members under supervision of the board and committees.

As a Treasurer

  • Manage the charities bank accounts
  • Compile consolidated accounts incorporating the central accounts and the accounts run by the two training committees
  • Reporting on the financial status of the accounts to the board of trustees
  • Submitting accounts for approval  by the membership
  • Liaising with WMIP’s independent examining accountants

Submission of accounts to Companies House and The Charity Commission

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic treasurer and potential trustee with skills and ideas from outside the world of psychotherapy who will help with overseeing the running or the Institute and the development of its future.

What difference will you make?

The right candidate will help guide our organisation such that it is sustainable, thus enabling us to continue as a lively and thoughtful place to learn and expand the public’s understanding of psychotherapy and its place in today’s world.

As a trustee and treasurer the candidate will bring outside ideas and skills much needed in the runner and development of the charity.
