Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

We are looking for a skilled WordPress Developer to help us revamp and elevate our website.

What will you be doing?

What we’d love your help with:We’re looking for a creative and experienced volunteer to revamp our current WordPress website to better reflect our mission, showcase our programmes, and make it easier for visitors to engage with us - whether that’s signing up for events, learning about our work, or volunteering themselves.

Key deliverable:A refreshed, user-friendly, and mobile-optimised WordPress site that clearly communicates who we are, what we offer, and how people can get involved. This includes restructuring the layout, adding engaging calls-to-action, and creating easy-to-edit templates for our team.

Who you'll work with:You’ll be supported by the founder of TechJumpstart Hub CIC and our marketing team with content and admin access to the current site. We'll provide any written content or brand guidance you may need.

Is this set in stone?

Not at all. While we have some goals and ideas, we're open to your input on how to make the site work best, especially if you spot opportunities for improvement we haven’t considered. We value collaboration and creativity.

What are we looking for?

  • 3+ years of experience in WordPress website design, development, or related digital projects
  • Strong ability to customise WordPress themes, layouts, and integrate plugins
  • Understanding of UX/UI best practices, with a user-first approach to design
  • Ability to create clean, accessible, and mobile-responsive websites
  • Experience integrating practical features like sign-up forms, donation tools, and event pages
  • Familiarity with SEO basics and performance optimisation is a plus
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision, while contributing ideas collaboratively
  • A creative mindset and a passion for using tech skills to create positive social impact

What difference will you make?

Your input will shape how we present ourselves to the people who need us most,  from first-time learners trying to understand tech, to potential partners, funders, and collaborators.

With your help, we’ll be able to clearly showcase our mission: empowering underrepresented communities particularly women, young people, and those from disadvantaged backgrounds to build confidence and thrive through digital skills and technology.

A strong, accessible website means more people will find us, trust us, and take that first step toward learning. You’ll be helping us bridge the digital divide, one page at a time.

Before you apply

Once we receive your application, we’ll shortlist and invite selected applicants to a friendly virtual chat with our founder to learn more about each other and the project.
