Editors for Impact specialises in providing creative content services for small NGOs and charities. We are looking for website designers with skills in website colour scheme and layout to join our Impact Editor network.

What will you be doing?

Our focus is on small NGOs and other charitable organisations that are working towards addressing problems in social development or environmental sustainability. Small-scale organisations often lack finances, time or access to professional creative content that would strengthen their impact. Editors for Impact connects you with a partner organisation that fits your interests and skills and provides creative services at no/low-cost to our partners.

As our Website Design Editor, you will be working directly with our partner organisations to advance their cause by designing or redesigning their website, including the layout and a colour scheme aligning with the charity's brand identity. We will facilitate communication between parties and ensure that deliverables are clearly outlined. Our team will be readily available to assist you where needed. The specific requirements of each project are subject to each of our partners' needs, and we will strive to match you with a partner that suits your personal interests and commitment abilities. We welcome you to express specific sectors for which you'd like to be matched in and welcome from all skill levels.

All work will be conducted remotely through a shared online platform (Slack), therefore no travelling is required for this role. Guidance on using the platform will also be provided.

In joining our volunteer network, you will work on a completely flexible and intermittent schedule, only committing to projects whenever it suits your schedule. Our volunteers are students, part-time or full-time employees; we foster a flexible and low-pressure environment and are open to your commitment needs.

Please contact us via Reach if you would like to apply; we will then be able to forward you our official application form.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for individuals with skills in website design including:

  • Familiarity with using WordPress, Wix, SquareSpace, etc.
  • Website layout and colour scheme design
  • Visual and user experience design

We welcome applicants of all experience and backgrounds beyond the scope of platforms mentioned above, as we will strive to match you to relevant projects where your skill levels suit our small charity partners' needs. You should also have some experience in project management and delivery, and be comfortable in directly consulting our partners for feedback during the project timeframe.

What difference will you make?

Editors for Impact focuses on small but significant charitable organisations that are tackling big challenges. Our partners' work in fields including environmental conservation and renewable energy, international and socioeconomic development, climate action and education, music and mental health, among others – covering geographic areas in Peru, Haiti, India, Vietnam, United Kingdom, and more. We strive to ensure that all our partners are actively and meaningfully contributing towards a just and sustainable world.

Many small organisations often lack the time and resources for professional film production that may significantly strengthen the impact of their work. Website design is a crucial element that can significantly bolster a small charity's brand image and work impact. By contributing as a volunteer Website Designer Editor, the projects you deliver can help charitable organisations secure critical funding and establish meaningful partnerships while relieving their time spent on content creation, allowing them to focus on impact.
