Are you passionate about research and sustainability? Do you want to make a real impact on household carbon footprints and promote sustainable living? Join our innovative crowd-sourced app development team and help us develop the Eco-Save app.

What will you be doing?

Our app is being designed to help individuals and communities reduce their expenses while living more sustainably. By providing practical advice and small, achievable changes, the app helps users cut household bills and reduce their carbon footprint. It will include features to encourage and reward engagement and friend referrals/sharing, including gamification.

We're looking for UK-based experienced researchers as well as desktop researchers. Your contributions will support the development of a groundbreaking app that promotes sustainable living and reduces household expenses, making a real impact on our planet's future.

As a member of our research team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the app provides valuable, accurate information to users. As a desktop researcher your tasks, around 6-8 hours a month, will involve conducting literature reviews, collating and interpreting data, and compiling databases to support the app's development. As an experienced researcher your tasks, around 6-8 hours a month, will involve designing research frameworks, a crowd-source programme, and coordinating the volunteer research team. Join us in making a real impact on household carbon footprints and promoting sustainable living through innovative research.

Our Vision:

  • Develop Robust Research Frameworks: Establish comprehensive research frameworks and tools to support the development of the E-Save app, ensuring the information provided is consistent, current, accurate and valuable;
  • Support App Development: Conduct thorough secondary research to gather data and insights that will inform the app's content and features, making it a reliable resource for users;
  • Enhance App Functionality: Continuously develop, refine, extend and improve the app's content through successive iterations, based on research findings and user feedback;
  • Use Crowdsourcing to Combat Climate Change: Establish a crowdsource programme to develop the E-Save app and other tools for promoting and enabling sustainability across different sectors;
  • Make Sustainability Accessible: Ensure the app is user-friendly and provides practical advice that appeals to individuals more concerned with saving money than sustainability, making sustainable living accessible to a broader audience.

What are we looking for?

Volunteer Roles Needed:

1. Experienced Researcher(s) for one or more of the below:

  • Lead the establishment and development of research frameworks and tools;

  • Conduct literature reviews: Identify and summarise relevant studies, articles, and reports;
  • Data collection: Gather data from various sources to support app development;
  • Data entry: Input collected data into spreadsheets or databases;
  • Reporting: Clearly present research findings to the team;
  • Collaboration: Work with the team to refine research questions and methodologies;
  • Regular Updates: Provide progress updates to the research team.

Desired Competencies:

  • Ability to analyse data and extract meaningful insights;
  • Address research challenges and find innovative solutions;

  • Methodical with attention to detail;
  • Ability to identify and abstract key issues in a succinct way;
  • Able to work remotely and unsupervised;
  • Knowledge of sustainability issues;
  • Able to manage own workload;

Note: No previous research experience required for desktop researchers.

What difference will you make?

  • Shape the App's Content: Your research will ensure that the app provides valuable, accurate, and practical information to users, making sustainable living accessible and appealing to a broader audience;
  • Empower Communities: Help individuals and communities reduce their carbon footprint and household expenses, fostering a culture of sustainability;
  • Drive Innovation: Be part of an innovative project that leverages technology to address climate change and promote eco-friendly practices;
