We are keen to attract people with a passion for the development of an organisation. The organisation is embarking on a significant and exciting phase of change, and we are seeking motivated people to help us shape the future of the charity.

What will you be doing?

Trustees will have a choice of involvement within the charity, as we need to have a balanced Board.  All trustees are expected to attend regular monthly Board meetings, and to occasionally participate in the weekly/monthly activities of our members, so that they gain some experience of the needs of our members.

We are considering, but not exclusively, people with:

  • Business
  • Commercial
  • Legal
  • Marketing
  • Fundraising
  • Charity
  • Health and social care
  • Parents or carers of someone with a learning disability, or pastoral care

As a Trustee, you will have the opportunity to meet new people, and be part of a diverse team. You will have the satisfaction of helping to make a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities, and enabling them to live full and enjoyable lives, doing the things they would like to do.

What are we looking for?

  • Our Trustees need to be passionate about Bath mencap's hopes for and work with people with learning difficulties.
  • They must be prepared to get actively involved in our range of services and fundraising activities.
  • They must enjoy working with different people, both disabled and members of the wider community, as well as learning new things.
  • Trustees need to be friendly, approachable, reliable, patient, and accepting of others who might be different from themselves.
  • Trustees must be prepared to attend regular monthly Board meetings, or extraordinary meetings as required.

What difference will you make?

The organisation is embarking on a significant and exciting phase of change, and we are seeking motivated people to help us shape the future of the charity.

What's in it for the volunteer?

By joining our Board of Trustees you will be joining a group of people who are determined to make sure that Bath mencap grows strongly, and continues to provide valuable support to people with learning disabilities living in our area.
