Involves day to day bookkeeping, working with external accountants, preparing monthly and end of year reports, and keeping the Board aware of their financial responsibilities. In addition, the holder is usually a Trustee.

The preferred candidate will usually, but not necessarily, have a qualification in a financial discipline, but should be aware of the legislation concerning the financial issues surrounding the work of a charity, and have the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences.
The Treasurer will work closely with the Board of Trustees to achieve the objectives of the Bath Mencap Strategic Plan, thereby helping to deliver high quality services to local people with Learning Disabilities.
You will be helping to arrive at decisions which will impact upon people's lives, and making a difference to the local community as a whole. You will be joining a group of people who are determined to make sure that Bath Mencap grows strongly, and continues to provide high quality services and support to people with Learning Disabilities.
All Trustees and Board members are expected to occasionally participate in the weekly/monthly activities of our members, so that they gain some experience of the needs of our members, and are able to make more meaningful contributions to our meetings when discussing the services we should be providing.
