As volunteer coordinator you will help recruit, manage, and supporting the volunteers of our community garden project

What will you be doing?

  • Recruitment: Liasing with our committee, members and volunteers to help engage volunteers and welcome potential volunteers to the project.
  • Training and Orientation: Help induct new volunteers to the project, ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities, the organization's vision, and it's charitable purposes.
  • Scheduling and Supervision: Helping to organizing volunteer sessions, ensuring adequate coverage to keep our site open, and supervising volunteers to ensure tasks are completed effectively, safely and that our volunteers needs are met.
  • Communication and Support: Acting as a liaison between volunteers, the committee, membership and our outside site users, addressing potential concerns or feedback, and keeping volunteers motivated and up to date.
  • Recognition: Acknowledging and appreciating volunteers' contributions, often through events to maintain morale and encourage ongoing participation, retention and engagement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, to deal with a diverse range of people
  • Experience of managing or coordinating projects and volunteers
  • Empathy with volunteers and an understanding of their needs
  • The ability to deal with information in a confidential manner and respond with sensitivity
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Administrative and IT skills.
  • Political awareness and the ability to remain impartial.
