Careers Springboard seeks a Volunteer Chairperson to lead our service to professional and graduate job seekers in the South Bucks/Chilterns area. Active support will come from the 12 member Executive Committee and 20 active volunteers.
Careers Springboard is a registered charity, self-help group, established over 28 years ago in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire, staffed by volunteers, providing help and guidance to redundant and unemployed professionals and graduates who seek employment.
There is a programme of weekly Monday evening meetings (at Gerrards Cross) on job search skills such as CV preparation, Internet job search, telephone techniques, networking, LinkedIn, interview preparation etc.
A Chairperson volunteer is required to motivate and lead the Executive Committee and volunteers in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the charity, the Monday evening meetings and the medium to long term planning of the organisation.
Time commitment will be weekly Monday evening meetings, four committee meetings per year and 3-4 hours admin/managerial work per week.
Our chairperson will have experience of working with responsibility with a team, preferably within the voluntary and/or HR and/or training sectors. Enthusiastic leadership will go alongside encouragement and sensitivity in order to move the whole team forward.
People skills as well as an awareness of financial responsibility and practical operational requirements will be evident in any new chairperson appointment.
Careers Springboard meets each Monday evening at Gerrards Cross and the Executive Committee meets formally four times a year at Gerrards Cross. The volunteer chairperson will be expected to attend in each occasion.
Over 28 years Careers Springboard has enabled 3,000+ professionals and graduates return to employment. The volunteer chairperson will ensure that this success record is continued - with practical support from the Executive Committee and the volunteers and through ongoing fundraising.
This is an opportunity for a volunteer to step forward and lead an established registered charity in South Bucks/Chilterns and to see every week the fruits of the team's efforts as members gain job search skills, gain interviews and secure new employment.
This is a unique opportunity to join an active vigorous registered charity and to see the fruits of your efforts every week.
