Welcome to Reach Volunteering. We are a community and registered charity that connects people, skills and good causes.

To apply for this role, and any other on our platform, you need to be based in the UK, have at least three years of experience using the skills you wish to volunteer in a professional capacity or have lived experience (for trustee roles). Read more about our criteria.

Support our Ugandan M&E team member with short-term 1:1 Zoom training. Share your UK-based M&E experience to build capacity and confidence in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting for international development projects.

What will you be doing?

Act4Africa is a UK registered Charity partner to the Ugandan NGO, that delivers community development programmes in rural Uganda, focused on empowering women, gender equality and early years education. Our UK fundraising team is made up of our Fundraising Manager and 10-15 enthusiastic volunteers who all work as a team remotely.

We are seeking an experienced Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) professional with a strong background in UK best practices to provide short-term one-to-one Zoom training for our Ugandan team member. In this role, you will share practical insights, methodologies, and strategies that have proven effective within the UK context, helping to enhance the skills and knowledge of our M&E team in Uganda. The support will be delivered over a series of sessions across the next few months, aiming to build capacity, improve data collection, and ensure rigorous evaluation processes for international development projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct 1:1 Zoom training sessions, focusing on core M&E concepts and practices used in the UK.
  • Share real-world experiences and practical tips on monitoring, evaluation, data collection, reporting, and analysis.
  • Provide tailored advice to address specific questions brought up by the Ugandan team member.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience in a Monitoring & Evaluation role within UK projects or a similar international context.
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, supportive approach to mentoring.
  • Flexibility to work with team members in different time zones and a commitment to short-term, impactful training.
  • Passion for capacity building in international development and a keen interest in sharing best practices.

This volunteer role offers a unique opportunity to make a direct impact by transferring valuable skills and insights that drive successful monitoring and evaluation outcomes in challenging environments.

What are we looking for?

  • At least 3 years professional experience in Monitoring and Evaluation for an organisation in the UK.
  • Be able to communicate clearly and express your experiences and M&E in the UK in general.
  • Familiar with using Zoom video calling platform.

What difference will you make?

Your support will directly improve the quality and effectiveness of Act4Africa’s community-based programmes in Uganda, which focus on education, gender equality, health, and early childhood development. By strengthening our local team’s monitoring and evaluation skills, you will help ensure that our programmes are evidence-based, responsive, and accountable. This will enhance our ability to track impact, adapt delivery to community needs, and communicate meaningful outcomes to partners and funders.
