CSW today supports around 12,000 carers.  It is entering an exciting new phase, and is hoping to recruit three Trustees, with expertise or a combination of Legal, Finance, Digital and Young People.

What will you be doing?

Legal and Governance  - Carer Support Wiltshire is seeking a Trustee with the knowledge and understanding to maintain an oversight on the charity’s activities at a strategic level;

  • Support the organization to assess areas of legal risk
  • Work with the organization to develop strategies in relation to legal compliance
  • Provide training in relevant areas
  • Provide guidance on contracts, service agreements and fundraising

Financial Expertise- A Trustee with accountancy knowledge and experience to maintain an oversight on CSW activities at a strategic level and to contribute well-informed views, constructive challenge and a commitment to best practice;

  • Developing financial strategies
  • Explaining financial matters to other Trustees
  • Inputting on financial proposals 
  • Analysing and evaluating financial data and information

Knowledge of the charity sector and charity SORP would be a great help.

Digital - A Trustee who understands the opportunities that emerging technology can bring to the delivery of our support and services for carers a

  • Delivering digital marketing and/or digital product development/operations/process development.
  • Delivering digital services to business technologies and processes, leading to cost savings and service improvements for customers.


Young People

We are seeking a Trustee with experience of working in a statutory or non-statutory organisation with vulnerable children and young people. In particular with some understanding of issues raised by offering services to this cohort, including safeguarding and the need to include vulnerable children and young people in developing creative solutions.

Time Commitment - The average time commitment of these roles will be one day per month. This includes 5 full board meetings per year whilst subcommittees meet quarterly. There is one trustee away day per year and a number of events which require the attendance of staff, volunteers and trustees. All successful candidates are expected to sit on relevant sub-committees.

Whilst the above skills and experience are actively sought, CSW is interested in applicants who believes they can contribute meaningfully to the organisation.

What are we looking for?

Carer Support Wiltshire has undergone a transformation in recent years, created as four smaller district charities merged to form the large county wide organisation which today supports around 12,000 carers.  It is entering an exciting new phase, building new projects, diversifying income sources in its goal of ensuring Wiltshire carers are well supported and is now looking to recruit three Trustees, ideally with expertise in the all or a combination of the following areas:

  1. Legal and Governance
  2. Finance
  3. Digital
  4. Young People

Whilst the above skills and experience are actively sought, Carer Support Wiltshire is interested in applicants from a wide variety of working, geographical and cultural backgrounds and would welcome applications from anyone who believes they can contribute meaningfully to the organisation.

As a member of our Board of Trustees you will have the opportunity to make a real difference to carers lives through quality governance, development and monitoring of CSW’s strategic goals, and supporting our team and volunteers in the delivery of our services. Trustees will need to demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the vision, mission and values of Carer Support Wiltshire, and work well as part of a committed team.
