Join us to improve local lives in Calderdale and Kirklees. Voluntary and Community (VAC) is looking to recruit passionate and committed individuals to join our board of Trustees. 

What will you be doing?

In a nutshell, VAC is a Charity for Charities and the Voluntary and Community Sector providing services and initiatives to organisations across Calderdale and Kirklees.  Our vision is to promote positive social change to improve local lives.

Role overview:  As a Trustee, you will work collaboratively with the CEO and fellow Board members to oversee the strategic direction and overall governance of VAC. Your role will involve ensuring that VAC remains compliant, upholds good governance, and effectively manages its resources and risks.

Key Responsibilities –

  • Strategic Oversight: Work collectively with the CEO and Board to provide strategic direction, ensuring that VAC's mission and vision are fulfilled.
  • Governance and Compliance: Oversee the management of the charity, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and uphold high standards of governance.
  • Financial Stewardship: Ensure that VAC has adequate financial resources, effective financial management practices, and that financial risks are managed.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage potential risks to VAC, ensuring appropriate measures are in place.
  • Equality and Diversity: Promote and uphold the principles of equality and diversity within the organisation and its activities.
  • Strategic Development: Contribute to the development and implementation of an ambitious strategic plan, focusing on sustainability and growth of the organisation.

  • Passion for the Sector: A genuine commitment to the values and mission of VAC.
  • Diverse Skill Base: Experience and expertise in leadership, quality assurance, social care, HR, finance, or business.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively with a dynamic team, including the CEO, senior management, and other Trustees.
  • Strategic Thinking: Skills in strategic planning and the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of ambitious plans.
  • First-Time Trustees Welcome: We offer support and training for those new to a Trustee role, ensuring a positive and productive experience.
