Voluntary Action Epping Forest , is a progressive charity.  Supporting local charities and providing services to the elderly and vulnerable. The Board of Trustees needs new volunteer to achieve its aims.

What will you be doing?

We are particularly keen to recruit members of the local community who have one or more of the following skills:

  • Digital and marketing experience to support our strategic thinking around better use of technology to reach and support our beneficiaries and maintain and share our knowledge base.
  • Financial management experience that can help us balance our commercial viability with our social purpose.
  • Human resource & legal experience particularly around contracts, compliance and working in a partnership environment
  • Those familiar with the changing landscape of health and social care that can help us lead thinking in involvement in new models of care

We are also interested in hearing from people with a range of skills, enthusiasm and the desire to make a difference in their local community, not just those highlighted above.

No previous Board experience is necessary. We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds.

Board meetings are held bi-monthly.   Meetings are generally held on a Tuesday afternoon between 1pm and 4pm approx. in our Thornwood Offices.

Our current projects include:

  • Volunteer Centre, providing volunteers to organisations in Epping Forest and Harlow
  • ACE Activities (Supported volunteering for people with Learning Disabilities)
  • Gardening Handyman and Home Safety Services - for people living in Epping Forest who are physically unable to maintain their gardens or do DIY jobs themselves
  • Benefits Advice – helping housebound residents access benefits information and advice
  • Befriending Services - weekly social clubs, trips out, home visits, friendship, help and advice to socially isolated people over 65 years.  These clubs have been operating for over ten years this year.  Over the decade, they have helped over a thousand older, isolated and vulnerable people in the Epping Forest area.
