The trustees hold 5 meetings per annum with specific sub-committees outside of this time which range between 2 – 4 times.

Over the past few years, we have really strengthened our board and want to attract further key members to further enhance our work.

What will you be doing?

Charity trustees are the people who share ultimate responsibility for governing a charity and directing how it is managed and  run.

In addition to your statutory duties, each trustee should use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the board of trustees reach sound decisions. This may involve scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, focusing on key issues, providing advice and guidance on new initiatives, or other issues in which the trustee has special expertise.

What are we looking for?

We’re in need for someone from a business background to oversee the finance. We have all the finance team in place but we just need a Trustee who has an interest in the financial aspects of our charity.

We are also interested in someone with a clinical background with an interest in Eating Disorders.

We would also welcome people with experience in other areas particularly health and legal.

The most effective boards are ones which benefit from individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and skill sets. SWEDA welcomes individuals from a range of backgrounds, including those who have had experience of eating disorders themselves or someone close to them.

The staff team is growing, since the pandemic this has doubled from 6 staff members to 12 led by a highly competent senior management team with more expansion in the pipeline as demand for SWEDA services grow. Our culture is inclusive and emphasises the need for wellbeing and good mental health.
