Deadline

We are looking to strengthen the board of trustees of HoverAid with two or three new trustees with accountability and expertise individually in at least one of Finance, Legal, Fundraising, Medical.

What will you be doing?

We are looking to strengthen our board, up to the maximum of six trustees. We have identified several areas which need strengthening- Finance, Legal, Marketing and Fundraising. These roles are scrutiny roles and do not involve day to day operational functions. We are looking for brilliant, passionate individuals who understand our vision and can lead on oversight in these areas.

HoverAid UK (https://uk.hoveraid.org/ ) is based in Cambridge working in Madagascar, looking to expand our reach to other countries. These roles can be fulfilled from anywhere in the country, as board meetings take place monthly via Skype. We do have two meetings a year which are face to face, usually around the London or Cambridge area.

What are we looking for?

Trustees should be of Christian faith and have the following characteristics:

  • Passionate about reaching the unreachable
  • Wiling to devote the time and effort needed ( probably half to one day a month spread out over the month in phone /skype calls)
  • Great independent judgment and strategic vision
  • Experience of dealing with accounts preferably in the charity sector  (Finance trustee)
  • Able to sign up to our vision and mission statements
  • Flexible with a great sense of humour
  • Experience of international aid work, contextual mission, pioneering would all be a bonus, but not essential!

What difference will you make?

We are seeking to strengthen our board some of whom have been involved for more than three years. The role is key in ensuring long term sustainability and stability in order to meet our goals. We are a Christian humanitarian organisation, using hovercraft to offer aid relief, assistance and advocacy to those living in remote, isolated areas away from conventional transport systems.

We partner with other organisations to further our effectiveness and reach and are keen to raise awareness (and funding ) for what we have been doing for the last 12 years in Madagascar so that we can grow the work, and potentially take it to other similar areas where hovercraft may be the only solution!

What's in it for the volunteer?

This is a flexible and open role and like any good sandwich- the more you put into it- the more you will get out of it! There is opportunity to affect many, many people who live in remote areas and this is a practical way to show God's love to the world! We are a fun bunch of interesting people keen to be inspired and further enabled by your input!
